Georgia golf alumna Sepp Straka won the Honda Classic on Sunday, giving the Dawgs 14 wins and their 11th player to become a PGA Tour winner. That stat is incredible given how hard it is to win on the Tour, so the water must be good in Athens.

It’s safe to say the Dawgs are one of the feeder schools for getting players into the PGA Tour, and the man behind it is head coach Chris Haack.

After winning the Honda Classic by one shot, Straka will now have a spot in the Masters at Augusta National in April. He came into the final round five shots off the lead, and the golf gods were on Straka’s side.

To get the win, he shot a final-round 66, making birdies on three of his final five holes. That proved to be enough to get the win and become the first Austrian to win on the PGA Tour.

Straka is the latest Dawg to hoist a trophy and win the Honda as your first PGA Tour event is pretty incredible. Haack has the secret formula to put players on Tour, and it’s going only to help the future of this program.

Georgia golf proves that it’s one of the best golf schools with Chris Haack at the helm.

Harris English, Hudson Swafford, and Kevin Kisner have all won in the last year, and some have multiple wins. English was on the Ryder Cup team won the Travelers Championship and Sentry Tournament of Champions. He has hit a hot streak in his career.

Swafford won the American Express, and Kisner won the 2021 Wyndham Championship last August.

However, it also feels like each week, there are anywhere from six to 10 Dawgs in the field, and at least one of them contends. Russell Henley, Keith Mitchell, Chris Kirk, Brian Harman, and Brendon Todd are all playing good golf.

Bubba Watson isn’t playing as much, but he played well overseas, finishing second behind Harold Varner.

Georgia gets respect from some of golf’s best, but to say that 11 different Dawgs have at least one victory on the PGA Tour is a pretty clear point to say it is one of the best if not the best feeder school for making professional golfers.

Haack is an evil genius in all the right ways, and now with the new crop of Dawgs on his team, it’s fun to see who could be the next to make the PGA Tour.

Davis Thompson has earned a few exemptions throughout the last couple of seasons, and while he just graduated, he is likely the next one to gain status and possibly win.
