Georgia football: Jamaree Salyer would make a wonderful 2nd round pick

Georgia football has 14 players who could get drafted in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft. One of those guys is Jamaree Salyer, an offensive lineman who played the interior and at tackle during his time in Athens.

He was also one of the 14 who participated in the NFL Combine, where the Dawgs took over Indy once again and proved why they won the title.

Salyer played most of the season at right tackle, but Broderick Jones came in and shined when he got hurt. When he returned, the Dawgs were able to utilize him at the tackle position and inside at guard, which helped them ultimately win the national championship.

Georgia football offensive lineman Jamaree Salyer is a solid second-round NFL Draft selection.

He came in as a 5-star offensive guard from Pace Academy in Atlanta. According to the 2018  247Sports Composite rankings, he was the No. 10 overall, No. 1 guard and No. 3 player out of Georgia.

From the time he stepped on the field in Athens, the expectations surrounding him were high, and Salyer met them. He became one of the most versatile linemen for the Dawgs, and his aggressive nature really made him a force.

There is nothing quite like seeing Salyer pancake defensive players because he does that pancake block so well.

One of his biggest strengths is his balance, as he plays with a wide base to be able to adjust as the defensive end does. Salyer sinks his hips well to generate power off the snap, and that aggressive nature allows him to push back defenders often.

He is quick for a big man and light on his feet, so NFL scouts need to look his way. Salyer still has room to improve because he played so many positions, he could focus on one, so he can really perfect that craft.

Not to mention the injuries have been something to mention as well. Salyer has been hurt a few times in college, so if he can stay healthy, he will be someone to watch for on Sundays.

Right now, Salyer is likely a second or third-round prospect depending on how things play out. However, he could drop even more if scouts aren’t impressed with him at Georgia’s Pro Day on Wednesday, March 16.

While Salyer has the physical capabilities, there are some things that hold scouts back from putting him higher on the big board. Plus there are better linemen in this draft that will go above him. He will get selected, though, and wherever he lands will get a hard worker who still has a lot of potential.
