This past weekend, Georgia football hosted 5-star quarterback Arch Manning and many other recruits as the Dawgs are in full recruiting mode while spring practice hits Week 2.

According to 247Sports, the visit went well for the No.1 overall prospect.

With this visit going well, it’s safe to say the Dawgs are the team to beat when it comes to landing the next Manning quarterback.

Even with a quarterback room full of talent, Georgia needs Manning because he is elite and could be the next great college football player to have his famous last name.

Georgia football holds the lead with Arch Manning after his latest visit.

Head coach Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator Todd Monken have built a great relationship with Manning. They’ve gone to his basketball games and now got him back on campus after coming for the game back in September.

This visit was Manning’s first since the fall. Being a multi-sport athlete, he waited until after basketball season to start visiting his schools of interest again. 247Sports expert analyst Steve Wiltfong spoke with Manning’s head coach Nelson Stewart after the visit, and it sounded like it was such a great experience for the young quarterback.

A couple of things noted in that article was Smart’s energy and how well-run practice was, which seem like big reasons Manning still has Georgia in the running. Plus, getting to see how the player interacts with each other was something else Stewart said was something Manning liked because he resonates with relationships.

Manning will visit Texas next, then LSU, Alabama, Florida and then Ole Miss in the next few weeks, so he will be busy. Georgia will surely stay in touch with him throughout it all, but this visit is what Manning will compare the others to, so hopefully, it will leave a lasting impact on him.

Even with so much left on his plate, Georgia getting that first visit is big and to us seems like the Dawgs were on his mind, so he had to get on-campus sooner than later. Manning hasn’t come out and said that Georgia is the leader because that isn’t the kind of recruit he is, but to take the Athens visit first means something.

Georgia is on the rise after winning the national championship, and if the Dawgs continue to play well, it only helps their odds. In our opinion, Georgia holds the lead right now because it’s the most recent visit, and the Dawgs could build an offense around Manning. That early playing time could pull him to Athens, but so could the competition with the other quarterbacks.

Manning enjoyed his visit to Athens this past weekend, but Georgia must keep the throttle down to land him. The other schools involved aren’t afraid to go big for someone like Manning, so Georgia must do it through relationships to prove they are the best choice.
