Georgia football has a lot of spirited players on this team, and one of the guys that have made a name for himself is defensive back Dan Jackson.

Despite being on the smaller side, Jackson isn’t afraid of anything and plays football fearlessly. He did it all for the Dawgs and was a big contributor in the 2021 season on defense and special teams.

The Gainsville, Ga., native earned a reputation for being tenacious and someone the Dawgs could depend on making plays. Jackson loves football, and it shows every time he is on the field.

Georgia football defensive back Dan Jackson plays football like it should get played.

On Thursday, Jackson was one of the three players that spoke to the media, and he told reporters that the way he plays is something that has always been there.

"“It’s just my mindset,” Jackson said during an interview. “The way I was raised, the way I’ve been coached growing up. Just having a fearless mindset.”"

That statement of having a fearless mindset is what you want to read because it shows how passionate he is about football and being a member of this team.

Jackson was No. 7 on the tackle list with 40 total and 27 solo tackles on the season. He also recorded two tackles for loss and blocked the kick during the Arkansas game that really demoralized the Hogs.

However, what he is probably the most known for is laying the final block on the pick-six in the national championship for fellow defensive back Kelee Ringo to make sure he got into the endzone.

He sacrificed his whole body, and during his interview on Thursday, he said he wasn’t going to feel anything, which was fine because they got into the endzone.

Also, during his interview, Jackson said that when Will Muschamp came on, it made a big difference for him.

"“He has been a game-changer for me and, I would say, all the other DBs,” Jackson said during his interview. “Having that great defensive mind in there critiquing us every day —that’s something I’m really grateful for. We’re blessed to have him for sure.”"

There is just something about Jackson and the gritty way he plays. He plays so freely, and it’s something you don’t always see on the field anymore.

Jackson isn’t the typical defensive back in college football, but one thing that outweighs his shortcomings is the amount of heart he plays with, which offsets it all.
