There are specific player needs in each recruiting class that Georgia football and other teams alike look to sign. Sometimes there are bigger receiver classes, and other times the trenches are the top priority — each cycle is different.

Nevertheless, each year usually has positions that get heavily focused on landing the best prospects and replenishing the depth that the year brings.

Georgia focused on landing a larger defensive back classic in the 2022 cycle and ended up with one of the best groups ever. They also focused on getting some defensive linemen and a punter since they lost Jake Camarda.

Since head coach Kirby Smart took over, he transformed the recruiting, and the Dawgs went from landing a couple of five stars each class to have one of the top-3 classes yearly.

Georgia football will put a heavy focus on these three positions in the 2023 recruiting class.

The Dawgs are working on putting together their 2023 class as visitors hit campus daily. Georgia currently has the No. 4 2023 and the No. 2 SEC class on 247Sports. There are seven commitments, including five 4-stars and two 3-stars.

Those seven commits include three receivers, two offensive linemen, one defensive lineman, and one defensive back. Georgia is already off to a great start building solid relationships, and while it seems this class is inching along, the Dawgs are doing a lot of work to leave lasting impressions.

A lot of this class will come down to who Georgia lands at quarterback, and the push has been for Arch Manning, the No.1 overall player in the country. He has the Dawgs in his final group of schools, and they seem to hold a slight lead over the likes of Texas, Alabama, LSU and Ole Miss.

Once he makes his decision, many offensive skill players will follow suit. However, it could be a while until Manning picks a school, but that won’t cause the Dawgs not to get commitments. Georgia is playing it smart right now, but it won’t be long until this recruiting train picks up steam.

The Dawgs are likely going to sign two running backs, a quarterback, two tight ends, a few linebackers, but there are three positions they will look to make up most of this 2023 class.

Here are the three positions Georgia football will recruit hard in 2023.
