Georgia football proved that no one is safe from pranks on April Fool’s Day. The Dawgs’ social media team gave the entire fan base a mini heart attack when they posted a photo of the national championship trophy on its Twitter account that made it look broken.

Some fans fell for it, and others knew what the social media team was doing, but regardless, we must say they won the holiday of pranks.

Their post even got the Capital One Orange Bowl social media team involved, which made it much funnier.

Georgia football tricked its fans perfectly with their April Fool’s Day jokes.

A tweet dropped mid-afternoon of the College Football Playoff Championship trophy on the floor in pieces with a caption that appeared to be an intern or someone sending out one final message before getting “fired.”

Seeing this trophy in pieces on the floor had to make Dawg fans gasp or shake their head in disgust. How could someone drop that beautiful object? It’s funny because, of course, after 41 years, Georgia would drop the trophy and break it.

The casualness of the caption made it seem real because it looked like it got done fast and the emoji sent it over the edge. This social media team really got the fanbase, but what is even funnier is seeing opposing fans act like it’s real.

Even a few Clemson groups were ready to give their playoff trophies away — weird, but whatever helps the Tigers feel better about not making the playoffs and getting beat by Georgia last year. We’re not sure why they would want to give Georgia one of theirs, but in their head, it was funny.

April Fool’s Day continues to grow bigger and bigger on social media, but at least in 2022, Georgia will take the title for the best prank.

At least it wasn’t like Orson Charles dropping one of Florida’s BCS glass footballs during a recruiting visit, but this is pretty hilarious. What made the joke even better was when the Orange Bowl Twitter decided to add to the narrative.

Georgia’s Twitter responded with a “no comment” gif which added another level to it. These kinds of tricks are hilarious, especially when it’s a team like Georgia that took 40 years to win another championship.

Dawg fans had to feel terrible because they knew opposing fans would begin trolling about how they can’t even have a national championship trophy without ruining it.

Dropping these trophies happens, especially when there are tons of recruits and people holding them all the time, and while it’s never great to see it, the trophy people make replicas for moments like this. Accidents happen, and it isn’t the end of the world, but it did make for one epic April Fool’s Day.

So thanks, Georgia football, for the mini heart attack today and for playing one of the better April Fool’s Day jokes that we’ve seen a team do on their fanbase.
