Nearly three months have passed since Georgia football defeated Alabama to win the 2021 CFP National Championship. Most of Dawg Nation is still celebrating this victory. Arguably the biggest storyline surrounding this team throughout the season was the quarterback position.

Georgia fans constantly debated who should be the starting quarterback — Stetson Bennett or JT Daniels. Ultimately, the staff chose to ride with the Mailman, and he played a big part in delivering the Bulldogs a national title.

With the win, Bennett joined Frank Sinkwich (who played some at quarterback) and Buck Belue as the three starting quarterbacks who have won a national championship as a Bulldog.

Georgia football has had no shortage of talented quarterbacks in program history, but these five should have left Athens as champions.

If you think that group is small at first glance, just know that it is, especially when you think about the great quarterbacks who have lined up under center for the Bulldogs.

Until the Mailman’s triumph in Indianapolis, however, many men weren’t able to get the job done.

Over the years, Georgia football has given its fans some of the most painful, agonizing, and heartbreaking moments. A lot of that pain was relieved after Georgia’s victory over Alabama, but the memories of “what-if” stick around in our minds longer than we like to admit.

The Honorable mentions that could have made this list are Fran Tarkenton, John Rauch, Zeke Bartowski, Mike Bobo and Jake Fromm.

Now, let’s take a look at five former Georgia quarterbacks who should have won a national championship during their time as a Bulldog.
