Georgia football: Pearce Spurlin is the heart of the 2023 class

Coaches cannot always be everywhere on the recruiting trail, so sometimes, current pledges will take on that role to help recruit players to be a part of the Georgia football program.

Each cycle, there seems to be one or two guys who go out of their way to recruit some of the best guys in their class to sign with the Dawgs, and it’s shown just how much team bonding means.

Jake Fromm and Richard LeCounte were two in that 2017 class that constantly recruited the Dawgs at the different events, and it paid off.

For the 2023 recruiting class, that guy is Pearce Spurlin, a 4-star tight end.

Reports from UGASports recruiting gurus suggest that he will be that guy who helps the Dawgs sign some severe prospects.

Georgia football already has a passionate recruiter for the 2023 class in Pearce Spurlin.

Spurlin is a 6-6 220-pound playmaker who committed to the Dawgs back in Sept. 2020, so he has been around a while. He loves the Dawgs, loves what head coach Kirby Smart is doing, and now he will be the guy who sells it to others.

It’s not that the Dawgs necessarily need someone like him, but between him and Raymond Cottrell, this 2023 class will sign some studs. They will be the ones who bond with Arch Manning and find a way to get him to Athens.

Spurlin may be from Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., but that doesn’t mean anything. He is recruiting others to Athens and loves the Dawgs. It’s still pretty early in the 2023 cycle, but he could be the one who we see making moves in camps this summer and becoming more vocal on social media.

He has been a part of this class the longest and will continue to push others to join him. The Dawgs need to keep recruiting at the level they have been since Smart took over the job, and right now, they’re on track for 2023.

With so many of Georgia’s targets for this 2023 class being in the Sunshine State, it helps to have a local boy helping from the trenches. He is there, and he does the camps and stuff there, so he could help the Dawgs keep those players away from Florida, FSU and Miami.

It’s still relatively early in this class, but right now, Spurlin is the heart of this signing class and someone who will stick with the Dawgs through thick and thin. He is hunting others like that, and the next couple of months will be fun to watch because it’s about to get hot for the Dawgs.
