Georgia football will execute a creative but safe offensive game plan

Like the 2021 G-Day game, fans will see the Georgia football offense get creative with their passing game.

We saw Brock Vandagriff and Carson Beck tear up the field last spring but throw in Gunner Stockton and a hungry Stetson Bennett ready to prove last year wasn’t just because of an elite defense, and it’s going to be a gun show.

The Dawgs will showcase their receivers and quarterbacks because we all know how much Georiga fans love to discuss the signal-callers.

There will be some opportunities for the running backs to do their thing, but Georgia needs to keep healthy. Don’t risk anything if it isn’t required, so Saturday will feature a heavy pass attack to see these quarterbacks duke it out.

Running the ball increases the chances of injuries, not just with the guys toting the rock but also those tackling them. Plus, with a smaller running back room this spring, it’s important to keep those guys healthy.

We will likely see them targeted in the backfield with short passes to test their abilities, but the run count will have limits.

It’s more fun to see big explosive plays because those excite the crowd and make for great highlight reels. However, don’t expect too much creativity from offensive coordinator Todd Monken because Saturday will be about keeping it vanilla.

Georgia doesn’t want to give anything away to Oregon or opponents, so the more basic this offense is on Saturday, the better.

Plus, with young receivers and tight ends ready to prove themselves, why not target them. Expect numbers similar to last season because it’s essential to give equal reps on G-Day.
