First, it was the Atlanta Braves winning their World Series, and then the Georgia football program won its first College Football Playoff in January. Those two events forever tied these two teams together as the ones who ended the championship drought and sports curse.

Georgia players, coaches, and the program supported the Braves during their championship run. Atlanta returned the favor and showed their support to the Dawgs, with Joc Pederson and Blooper showing up for a game in Athens.

The Dawgs even got Braves manager Brian Snitker to narrate one of their hype videos. That magic run last fall still holds so much weight for some fans, and it should.

No, Georgia isn’t an Atlanta team, but there are only 71 miles between them, which is close enough. It’s great to see both social media teams collaborate to include the championship winners because that is how you keep growing both sports.

Georgia football and the Atlanta Braves are forever linked after their title wins, and they embrace it.

Jordan Davis threw out the game’s first pitch on Wednesday afternoon, which was for a strike, and former head coach Vince Dooley yelled, “play ball.” This collaboration is the latest in many done between the two teams in the last six months.

Davis is a massive Braves fan so getting him to throw out the first pitch ahead of the 2022 NFL Draft is a great way to honor his fandom. He wore a Braves jersey to the national championship celebration that cold January day and none of us will forget him yelling ‘Go Dawgs and Go Braves.’

Not to mention seeing Hairy Dawg and Blooper behind home plate does give us a lot of emotions. They are quite the duo, and their social media content is top-notch. It’s another detail that both teams have put into this collaboration that sets it over the top.

Most Georgia fans are also Braves fans — it’s how we get through the offseason without going crazy. So now that both teams are champions, these collaborations will hopefully continue throughout the Braves season and into the Dawgs’.

Before the game on Wednesday, Atlanta dropped a video about the “City of Champions” getting former Atlanta Falcon and Dawg DJ Shockley to narrate it. The video will give you full-body chills, and it ties everything together.

The magic is back in Atlanta and Athens. There is an energy surrounding the Peach State, and no one can say a word to any of us because those World Series and College Football Playoff titles silence all the haters.

Red and black go with red and navy. The color that goes with both, though — gold and man, does it look good.
