All four Georgia football quarterbacks’ performances were strong

All four of the Georgia football scholarship quarterbacks got playing time on Saturday, and three were able to get some good playing time.

Both the Red and Black Teams recorded 300-plus yards through the air. The Black squad went 20-of-47 for 330 yards and three touchdowns. They averaged seven yards an attempt and 16.5 per completion.

The Red squad finished 22-of-44 for 341 yards and no touchdowns. This group averaged 7.8 yards an attempt and 15.5 a completion — pretty eerie how both were so similar.

Starting quarterback Stetson Bennett threw all three touchdowns, two to Arik Gilbert and one to Kendall Milton. The veteran quarterback went 15-of-35 for 273 yards and threw two interceptions.

Those two picks weren’t great, but it’s a scrimmage and not something to worry too much about in the grand scheme of things.

Carson Beck stole the show on Saturday with the Red Team offense. He went 13-of-21 for 246 yards and averaged a 61% completion rate. Beck looked a lot more decisive with his throws, and his accuracy was much improved.

He was the most impressive of the day, but it’s important to note that what Benett went up against defensively and what Beck did were not the same defense.

Beck had Georgia’s second-team defense full of young guys, while Bennett had to handle the Dawgs’ top defensive talent. It’s still essential to give Beck credit because he did his job. We fully expected him to have a good day because he should — Beck is a talented quarterback.

As for Brock Vandagriff, he went 12-of-26 for 115 yards as he took snaps for both teams. He also had three rushes for 45 yards, which helped the Red Squad earn a couple of first downs. Gunner Stockton went 1-of-3 for nine yards, but he wasn’t out there a ton.

Vandagriff was one of the guys who was timid to start, but by the second half, he opened up some and made some good plays. He was close to throwing a touchdown, but the defense held tough.

This group should be proud of themselves because all three quarterbacks handled themselves well.
