The Easter Bunny came hopping down the trail Sunday morning as Georgia football landed 4-star defensive end Gabriel Harris to its 2023 recruiting class.

A former FSU commit, after visiting this weekend for G-Day, Harris decided to make it official with an announcement on his Twitter.

Georgia has eight members in its 2023 class, ranking on 247Sports as the No. 6 overall class and No. 2 in the SEC.

He is the latest pledge since the Dawgs picked up Lawson Luckie in January and could be the first of many committing in the next few weeks. There is a lot of buzz surrounding the Dawgs and recruiting after this past weekend, and Harris broke the seal.

Georgia football picks up an Easter commit out of Gabriel Harris.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Harris is No. 90 overall, the No. 8 defensive end, and the No. 7 player out of Georgia.

At 6-4 and 237-pounds, the edge rusher is a huge addition to this 2023 class. This South Georgia football player knows how to play hard-nosed football because that is all they do. They don’t know any other way.

Before transferring to Valdosta, Harris played at Thomas County Central in Thomasville, Ga. Last season he recorded 12.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks in nine games.

He has been on recruiting trips the last few weeks as Harris visited Georgia back on March 19, Florida on March 26, FSU on April 5 and back to Athens for G-Day.

Harris marks new outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe’s first commitment with the Dawgs, and getting an edge rusher to stay home is always considered a win.

It seems like Uzo-Diribe and Harris have built a great relationship over the last few months, which Georgia strives to do in recruiting.

He has excellent upside and a high ceiling. His potential will be huge for the Dawgs as they try to keep as much depth on that front seven as possible.

Harris can line up with his hand in the dirt or stand to rush. Georgia will be able to use him in different ways, which makes him even more appealing. He plans on taking his official visit to Georgia on June 3, and according to his 247Sports profile, he will be an early enrollee.

This commitment gives Georgia some much-needed recruiting momentum as it seems like forever since Lawson made his decision. After G-Day, though, the Dawgs could see a lot of recruiting action.
