After seeing what Georgia football receiver Arian Smith put on the field Saturday for G-Day, it’s clear that 2022 is his year.

His animation and determination to make every play that came his way were fun to watch. Smith is a speedster who can outrun most defensive backs, and his hands continue to improve.

Injuries held him back the last couple of seasons, so 2022 is the year he finds a way to stay healthy and show college football why the University of Georgia signed him.

Smith has shown so many great bursts of greatness that predicting he will have his best season yet doesn’t seem too crazy.

That 60-yard catch he made at G-Day reminded us why we love him. Smith had on a no-contact jersey, and he still stayed aggressive against the defensive backs because he wanted to make the play. That tenacity is welcomed in receivers coach Bryan McClendon’s room, and I bet the coach appreciated him going above and beyond to make it happen.

There is something brewing with Smith, and it’s his year to take the bull by the horns, stay healthy and put up some stats. Georgia has a lot of weapons, but none with the speed that Smith has, so he has that lane if he continues to stay healthy.
