Georgia baseball is one of the latest University of Georgia teams that has beaten Alabama or won a series over the Tide. The Dawgs may not have earned the sweep on Sunday, but they did enough to win the series.

When Georgia beat Alabama for the national championship on Jan. 11, there have been far more Dawg victories than Tide victories in the sports since then.

Even though Georgia teams have beaten Alabama ones before the national title, it’s still highly satisfying seeing the Dawgs win over the Tide.

Georgia baseball got the job done and earned a massive series win over Alabama.

The Tide won 3-0 on Sunday, but the two previous games were all about the Dawgs.

On Friday night, the Dawgs beat Alabama 4-2 and then 3-0 on Saturday to win the series.

Georgia’s pitching came up in a big way those first two games as Nolan Crisp delivered on Friday night. On Saturday, Jonathan Cannon returned to play for the first time since the beginning of the month, and he was unstoppable.

Crisp went 5.2 innings giving up five hits, and struck out five batters.

Cannon had a strict pitch count to abide by, but he made it all worth it. On 66 pitches, he provided five perfect innings with six strikeouts. His ERA is now at 1.55, and in SEC play, it’s an incredible 0.69. Not to mention, Cannon has 51 strikeouts and three walks this season in 52.1 innings pitched.

He is one of the best pitchers in college baseball right now, and it’s great to see him back on the mound.

Georgia’s bats recorded 15 hits in those first two games and scored big-time runs when it mattered.

This team has fought hard this season, and while they have 12 wins, those losses aren’t bad ones. As the season progresses, it’s important to stay healthy and keep grinding because it’s not getting any easier.

Georgia could make a deep run in the postseason this year if they can get there healthy, so the next few weeks are huge.

The Dawgs moved to 28-12 overall and 11-7 in SEC play after this weekend in Tuscaloosa. They sit in second place in the SEC East standings behind Tennessee and hold a two-game lead over Vanderbilt in third place.
