How many total picks are in the 2022 NFL Draft?

For this year’s NFL Draft, 262 selections will get made during seven rounds. Round one has 32 picks, but not all rounds have the same amount. The sixth round has the most with 43 selections.

During the first round, teams will have 10 minutes to make a selection when it’s their turn. In round two, the time decreases to seven minutes. Then in rounds 3-6, teams have five minutes to make their pick, and in round seven, the timer drops to four minutes.

Trades are more likely to happen during those first few rounds, and by Day 3, teams usually see who is left and already know who to pick. Those last few rounds are less consuming because by then, teams already have an idea of who to pick with the available players.

What are compensatory picks in the NFL Draft?

Compensatory picks get awarded to teams who lost players in free agency to keep up the roster numbers. The NFL has a formula they use to determine if a team lost more or better compensatory free agents than they received.

If the league deems they did, the team will get awarded compensatory picks. Those picks come during the third and seventh rounds, and the max amount a team can have is four.

What NFL team has the most picks in the 2022 NFL Draft?

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Jacksonville Jaguars will get 12 picks in the 2022 NFL Draft and are the two teams with the most selections.

Jacksonville will open the 2022 NFL Draft as they have the No.1 pick since they were one of the worst teams last season.

What are undrafted free agents and when can they be signed?

Undrafted free agents are the guys who are draft-eligible but didn’t get selected during the seven rounds. As soon as the 2022 Mr. Irrlevent gets selected, these undrafted free agents can negotiate and sign with any NFL team.

Being an undrafted free agent doesn’t mean a player failed or that they won’t have an NFL career — a lot of players earned contracts after going undrafted.

Where the Georgia football players got drafted

  • Coming as no surprise, edge rusher Travon Walker was the No.1 overall pick as the Jacksonville Jaguars selected him over Aiden Hutchinson. He was the first Dawg off the board, but won’t be the last.
  • Jordan Davis became the second Georgia football player off of the board as the Eagles traded up to get the nose tackle at the 13th pick. It’s truly a perfect pick for Davis as he makes a great addition to that defense.
  • The third Dawg that got taken in the first round was Quay Walker by the Green Bay Packers. He went at 22nd overall.
  • Six picks later, the Packers snagged Devonte Wyatt with the 28th overall pick. This gives Green Bay three straight first-round Georgia picks dating back to the 2021 Draft when they picked up Eric Stokes.
  • Georgia football broke their first-round draft pick record as Lewis Cine was the fifth and final pick of the first round as the Vikings drafted him 32nd overall. This pick gave the Dawgs five first-round defensive picks, which set the record for the most.
  • George Pickens became the first Dawg off the board on Day 2 of the NFL Draft as the Steelers drafted him midway through the second round.
  • James Cook was the last second-round pick for the Dawgs as the Buffalo Bills nailed it by drafting it him at 63rd overall.
  • Channing Tindall was the 102nd overall pick in the draft as the linebacker got picked up by the Dolphins with their first pick of the draft.
  • Day 3 begins and Zamir White is the first Dawg off the board at 122nd overall. The Las Vegas Raiders got a significant running back in the former 5-star and it’s a perfect fit. He is a bully that can run over people and should be able to make an impact right away.
  • Jake Camarda got selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round at 133 overall which is odd, but a great spot for the punter.
  • 11 years since the Falcons drafted a Dawg and Atlanta drafted Justin Shaffer with the 190th overall pick.
  • Five picks later and the Chargers draft Jamaree Salyer with the 195th pick. He marks the 13th Dawg as they continue to set their school record for most players drafted in one year. Georgia is one pick away from tying the NFL Draft record of most taken in one year but has two players left on their board.
