Georgia football defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt is the fourth Dawg off the board as the Green Bay Packers draft him with the 28th overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Wyatt has such a great story, so it’s only fitting to see him be the player to set the Dawgs’ first-round record at four players for a brief time.

There is the first record Georgia will break in this NFL Draft, and the Dawgs are far from done.

With some off-field issues surfacing in the last couple of days, it was uncertain if Wyatt would go in the first round, but the Packers knew they had to keep him and Quay Walker together.

Georgia football sees Devonte Wyatt become the fourth Dawg drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Green bay used back-to-back picks to snag two Georgia players, giving them three on their defense after selecting Eric Stokes in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Wyatt marks the third Georgia defensive lineman taken in this draft already, and that shows what kind of development Tray Scott is doing in Athens. He is an evil genius.

While everyone was surprised about Walker going earlier, Wyatt is truly the steal of this draft, and the Packers will quickly find out what kind of player he is.

However, his story truly speaks to who he is as a person on and off the field.

Wyatt signed with Georgia out of high school but had to go to Hutchinson Junior College for a season. He came back to Georgia in 2018 and continued to grow. Wyatt could have gone to the NFL last year but wasn’t projected quite this high, so he and Jordan Davis decided to come back for one more year.

They are both first-round draft picks and on track to have successful NFL careers. He was a force of nature in 2021, recording 39 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one recovery, one blocked kick, and 24 quarterback pressures.

Wyatt showed what coming back for one final year can do for a player, and the emotion he showed on Thursday night brought it all full circle.

He has the tenacity and grit that a defensive lineman needs to succeed, and Wyatt is more mobile than people realize.

For Green Bay to take back-to-back Dawg players is a huge compliment to what that team thinks of the players coming out of Athens.

Next. Jordan Davis heads to Philly as he gets selected 13th overall. dark

There are 11 Dawgs waiting to see where they will land. Georgia now has broken one record, but it’s only getting better from here.
