Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart isn’t one that gets tricked, but the Peach Bowl Challenge golf event staff was their latest victim. The 15th annual event happens at Reynolds Lake Oconee, where the coaches compete for a $330,000 charity purse.

Smart is the latest head coach to get pranked at the event, as Dabo Swinney and Dan Mullen are two other ones that have gotten tricked.

As an avid golfer, Smart is one of the 22 coaches that play in this event every year. However, with him being the defending national title coach, it seemed essential to prank him over anyone else.

Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart gets tricked on the range with a fake ball.

The video has Smart on the range with what looks like his driver getting ready to smoke one off the tee. He goes through what we will consider a fairly impressive golf swing, and when he makes contact, the ball blows up— not in a loud way, but into a mini cloud of smoke.

Smart seems so confused about what is going on, but even with the fake ball, he made such an impressive sound. He has some speed on that swing, and well, it was enough to make that ball disappear.

This ball is one of the gag gifts that golfers can purchase to trick their friends, and it was hilarious to see him confused about what happened.

Smart isn’t someone that lets much get by him, so the fact that this was able to go off without him even catching a whiff of it being a prank is pretty impressive. He has just beaten Alabama in January for the national title and more recently saw 15 of his players drafted into the NFL, so it seems he would be an easy target to humble a little bit.

This event consists of a two-man scramble format with Stableford scoring in an 18-hole tournament. There is also a long drive and closest to the pin contests during the round.

Smart is one of 22 former and current coaches playing today’s event, and the winning duo will split $60,000 between their two charities. He and Tommy Tuberville got paired together for this year’s event.

The duo didn’t win the event, but they placed fourth place, getting $12,500 to donate to their charities. Randy Edsall and Houston Nutt were the 2022 Peach Bowl Challenge winners.

Smart was the highlight, though — with his exploding golf ball, it’ll be a moment these coaches won’t soon forget.
