Eight Georgia Bulldogs entered the week looking to contend for the 104th PGA Championship title, and after the cut on Friday, six will play this weekend.

Two Dawgs are in contention to win the whole thing as Bubba Watson, and Chris Kirk are both in the top-10 heading into their rounds on Saturday.

When this article went live, the four guys that were right on the cut line had begun their third rounds. Those guys who made the cut and are part of the morning group are Brian Harman, Keith Mitchell, Sepp Straka and Russell Henley.

The Georgia Bulldogs have two golfers in contention for the PGA Championship, with six total making the weekend.

On Friday, Watson tied the lowest round in a PGA Championship when he went low and shot a 63, tying Tiger Woods and 16 others who have hit that number in this event. His 63 included a couple of bogeys, so it was almost a 61, which would have been even more mind-blowing.

He had a shot at 62 on the 18th but ended up two-putting to secure that 63, which is fine and still puts him in the record books. Watson was laser focused out there, and now that he has seen the course two days in a row, that 63 success could continue into the weekend.

Can Watson win his third major championship with a victory at Southern Hills? He is the second to last group to play on Saturday, and with tee times pushed back, it’ll be interesting to see if they get all 18 in, but he is right in the mix.

He will play the third round of the PGA Championship with Justin Thomas at 2:40 p.m. ET.

Kirk shot a 68-70 through the first two rounds, putting him tied 10th with a  2-under total score. He stayed consistent through brutal weather on Friday, and with this weekend including more wild weather, Kirk must keep that focus.

Southern Hills knocked out some of the world’s best golfers, but Kirk remained strong and has an afternoon tee time. He has been someone who has had strong rounds this season but hasn’t quite put it together all four days. However, this week could be when he takes the reins and puts on the heat.

After Day 1 of the tournament, Kirk was the only player to go without a bogey, so he is feeling himself right now, and it would be great to see him put it together all four days.

Kirk will play with Stewart Cink for round three of the PGA Championship at 2:10 p.m. ET and is sitting in a great place to make something happen on moving day.

Harman will play solo and is the first off the tee this morning as he begins his round at 8:37 a.m. ET. He did just enough to get in on the +4 cutline to make the weekend.

Keith Mitchell also made enough happen, finishing on the cutline to play this weekend and is paired with Charl Schwartzel at 9:22 a.m. ET.

Sepp Straka, who we thought would have a better week than he is, having finished the first two days at +2. Russell Henley also posted a +2 score to get a check this week.

Straka plays with Adam Schenk on Saturday, and their round begins at 10:16 a.m. ET. Henley gets to play with Jason Day one group after Straka in the 10:25 a.m. ET tee time.

While we say that Watson and Kirk sit in the best spot to contend for this major championship, any of these six guys could go low enough to do something special. The weekend of major championships can go a magnitude of different ways, but one thing is for sure, anything could happen, and people have won them by getting in on the cutline.

The Georgia Bulldogs still have a great shot to see one of these guys win another major, so stay tuned to this weekend’s coverage of the PGA Championship.
