No surprise, Georgia football lands in Jayden Wayne’s final 6
After an official visit to Athens and to check out Georgia football one more time, Jayden Wayne announced his top six teams, and to no surprise, the Dawgs made the cut.
It didn’t take long for Wayne to announce his top schools, and with it coming so soon after the visit, this should make Georgia fans feel confident.
Georgia rolled out the red carpet, and reports suggested that Wayne had a great time in Athens and that his family enjoyed the trip.
As a west coast kid, it could be a hard pull from Oregon, but it seems like he wants to play on the east coast from the finalist that made his list.
Georgia football is one of six finalists for 5-star Jayden Wayne.
Joining the Dawgs in Wayne’s top six teams are Oregon, Alabama, LSU, Michigan State and Miami.
The 6-5 and 245-pound edge rusher has a tough decision to make, but among his top six schools, Oregon and Georgia feel like they have the advantage.
Wayne has retweeted a lot of Ducks and Dawgs stuff recently, so that is why I think they are the top two teams for him. However, Georgia has a lot going for the program right now, and after seeing 15 players drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, it’s hard not to think the Dawgs lead his recruitment.
However, there is still a long time between now and Early Signing Day in December so anything could happen, but if he picked tomorrow, I think Georgia would be the team.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Wayne ranks as the No. 28 overall player, No. 3 edge rusher and the No.1 player out of Washington.
He is a beast, to put it plain and simple. Wayne has that gritty, nasty, hard-nosed, old-school way about him, and that screams perfect fit for Georgia football.
Outside linebackers coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe is working hard on landing this guy, and if he does, it will make a tremendous recruiting resume addition for the new coach. Not to mention, seeing Wayne work with Uzo-Diribe and defensive line coach Tray Scott would be incredible.
He is the kind of player these two coaches want because they can add a little weight to his frame without sacrificing any of his physical speed or talent.
Wayne is unique because he has played both ways in high school. He played some receiver, where he recorded 18 catches for 269 yards and five scores. However, he is a much better edge rusher.
This guy will blow up when he can solely focus on being an edge rusher, and he could be a future first-round draft pick, especially if he picks the Dawgs.
Seeing Georgia in that final six should give the whole fanbase some excitement because if this coaching staff continues to push for him like I think they will, he will sign with the Dawgs in December.
