Georgia football added another member to its 2022 class in Marcus Washington, who reclassified out of the 2023 class. He signed with the Dawgs earlier this month and will join the team with the rest of the summer additions.

The Dawgs need more bodies in their secondary, and Washington will make for a great addition.

This position group probably has the most depleted depth, so any extra bodies willing to stick around and compete are welcomed in Athens.

Georgia football adds a fantastic addition to the secondary in Marcus Washington.

A one-time member of the 2023 class, Washington reclassified to come on to Georgia. Not everyone is cut out for that because it’s hard to make the transition, but Washington isn’t a normal player.

At 6-0 and 170-pounds, he could use some weight on him, but Georgia has an excellent program that can help Washington there.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings on his profile, he is the No. 18 corner back and the No.16 player in Georgia. The Grovetown native was a 4-star when he signed, and he is exciting.

He originally committed to Georgia back on May 15, 2021, and has been a solid pledge since then. Now he is challenging himself, and that tells us that Washington is a competitive kid that want to take this next step.

Washington runs the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds, so he is a speedy corner that can handle most of the receivers he faces.

He is a legacy player and his dad Marcus Washington Sr. played for former head coach Mark Richt. His dad was also a 4-star signee in 2005, and now the Washington name will continue to be a Georgia legacy.

The Dawgs will benefit from having Washington reclassify because it adds depth and more competition. However, his addition will hopefully not make anyone transfer. Georgia has struggled with that in recent classes, but if this group understands they will get their shot if they stay patient, it will be the best secondary in Georgia’s history.
