Georgia football adds its second 5-star prospect in three days as the Dawgs stay hot on the recruiting trail.
Adding its third commitment of the week and the second 5-star pledge, Georgia football is on a recruiting tangent with no end in sight.
The Dawgs picked up place kicker Peyton Woodring on Saturday and defensive back AJ Harris on Thursday night.
Now the Dawgs have 11 members in the 2023 recruiting class and, according to 247Sports team rankings, are sitting at No.7.
Georgia football adds a 5-star kicker
Woodring picked the Dawgs over Alabama, which makes this pickup much sweeter. On Kohl’s kicking website, he is a 5-star and is the No.4 kicker in the country as the Lafayette, Louisiana native is one hot commodity.
It’s so good to see Georgia get that kicker over Alabama, and it shows that the Tide is slowly changing.
Georgia offered him shortly after the Tide did, and Woodring didn’t waste any time announcing a decision.
The Dawgs have had great kickers in the past, including Rodrigo Blankenship, who was a walk-on turned scholarship sensation, so adding to that room is such a good feeling.
Teams need elite kickers, and Woodring is one of those guys. He made 54-of-55 PATs and 14-of-19 field goals as a junior. One of the kicks he made was 56 yards, so that should tell you what kind of leg this young man has and why the Dawgs want him on the team.
Georgia football adds 5-star corner
Woodring was the second 5-star in three days to pick Georgia after Harris announced his choice on Thursday.
Harris is a 6-1 and 180-pound cornerback from Phenix City, Ala., and he picked Georgia over the Gators.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, he is the No. 25 overall player, the No. 5 corner and the No. 5 player out of Alabama.
He announced his decision before a scheduled visit to Gainsville, so you know he made the right choice if Harris is already trolling Florida.
Harris is an explosive player with excellent twitch. He is an ideal size already, so the transition could be easy for him. This guy isn’t afraid of coverage or getting aggressive with receivers, so that he will fit in perfectly at Georgia.
These two guys are the latest additions to the 2023 Georgia football recruiting class. The Dawgs aren’t entirely done yet, as they host another large group of official visits this weekend. Georgia is working on building this 2023 class into another top-ranked class, and no one is surprised about it.
