Georgia football fans are celebrating the Fourth of July, including watching Joey Chestnut in the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, but could Jordan Davis compete with him?

Today may be America’s birthday, but a burning question is whether or not former Georgia football great Jordan Davis could beat defending champ Joey Chestnut in a hot dog eating contest?

One of the country’s standing traditions for this holiday is the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, where Chestnut has demolished his competitors in 14 of the last 15 years.

He is looking for another title this year, which brought up the discussion of whether someone like Davis could compete with him or even dethrone him?

While some people who watch the contest religiously know that Davis would likely lose because there is a lot of training that goes into competitive eating — maybe Davis could.

Could Georgia football stud Jordan Davis compete with Joey Chestnut?

While our poll on Twitter didn’t get that many votes, the little consensus is that Davis could not compete with Chestnut. It isn’t very reassuring to see the Dawg fans give Davis so little credit, but you got to give it to Chestnut. He is a stud in his own right. At the same time, though, we’re big fans of Davis around here and would root for him no matter what.

Georgia football players don’t train to eat competitively, but someone as large as Davis knows how to eat. Maybe the competition shouldn’t be a time hot dog event, but one of who could eat the most food in a single setting.

If that were the game, I think that Davis could beat Chestnut, but that guy eats for a living.

The intelligent answer to this random but burning question is that Chestnut would blow Davis out of the water. However, it’s fun to discuss because someone like Davis is two to three times the size of Chestnut, so there would have to be some glimmer of hope for the big man.

Chestnut is working on an eating contest with Tom Brady, so why not Davis? The former Georgia football player could shock the world, but eating 76 hot dogs in a short time does not seem like that much fun. However, who are we to say it isn’t — people all over America love it and look forward to it every year.

Do you think Davis could compete with Chestnut if the two sat down for an eating competition? How many hotdogs would Davis eat before tapping out? We believe Davis could eat around 30 to 40 hotdogs if he got to train for it.
