Georgia football got good news from Jamaal Jarrett as the massive defensive tackle committed to the Dawgs.
He picked Georgia over North Carolina and Auburn as he announced a live stream in front of a few reporters, his teammates and his family.
This pickup is a huge momentum boost for the Dawgs because he is another Jordan Davis kind of player.
They don’t make them like Jarrett and Davis anymore, so it’s incredible when the Dawgs can land someone like him.
Georgia football adds Jordan Davis 2.0 to its 2023 recruiting class.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, Jarrett ranks as the No.180 overall, No. 25 defensive lineman and the No.5 player out of North Carolina.
At 6-6 and 340-pounds, you can see why I believe he is another Davis for the Dawgs. Not to mention, when Davis came to visit, he got to meet Jarrett earlier this summer and maybe that was something that helped the Dawgs land him.
He is more athletic than most people think a big guy like him would be. That size and his ability to still have speed make him special. I love how aggressive he plays because the Dawgs need that up front.
Jarrett is a gritty plug that Georgia will need on its defensive front in the near future. While Jalen Carter could stay for a fourth season, he is likely gone after 2022, so adding Jarrett was a must.
Georgia has become accustomed to adding players like Davis, Carter and now Jarrett to its recruiting classes, and the last time they did, it worked out pretty well. We expect this time around to do the same as
Defensive line coach Tray Scott has done it again, proving his worth for the Dawgs by convincing an out-of-state kid to give Athens a chance. He made sure that Jarrett and his family knew that the Dawgs would take care of him and do what was best for his future.
Scott is proving that he can develop and put players into the league, and isn’t that the end goal for these kids? Especially ones like Jarrett, who has the size and potential to be NFL studs one day. Plus, seeing three defensive linemen go in the first round of the draft had to help his choice easier.
What a great pickup for Scott, as Jarrett was a huge piece of the puzzle for this 2023 class. He gives the Dawgs such an incredible defensive haul in this group, and you love to see it.
After missing on Justice Haynes, some spirits were down, but they shouldn’t be anymore. Jarrett is a stud and will make the Dawgs very happy once he gets on campus.
Jarrett gives the Dawgs 15 commitments for the 2023 class, and his pledge keeps the Dawgs in the No. 6 team ranking on 247Sports, but it won’t be long until they jump up again. He isn’t the last person to make a decision this month, as the Dawgs could add a couple of more to this 2023 class.
