Georgia football added another 2023 prospect this month as 4-star offensive lineman Kelton Smith announced his decision on Friday.

The Dawgs are red hot on the recruiting trail as Smith marks the second commitment of the week and the eighth in July. He is the fifth in the 2023 class, so the Dawgs are gaining a lot of momentum throughout this dead period.

Smith gives the Dawgs 16 pledges for the 2023 recruiting class and is the third offensive linemen, joining 3-star Joshua Miller and 4-star Bo Hughley.

This pickup is a good one for new offensive line coach Stacy Searels who is doing an excellent job for the Dawgs.

Georgia football added its eighth commitment in July.

Smith is a instate recruit out of Carver High School in Columbus. At 6-5 and 300-pounds, he is a massive human being with some skills.

According to 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 10 interior offensive lineman and the No. 20 player out of Georgia.

Smith picked the Dawgs over LSU, Texas A&M, Florida and Florida Sawgs. He has tremendous upside and, with the right development, can become a serious asset for Georgia.

He visited Athens for an official visit back on June 10, which seems to be when the Dawgs did enough to convince Smith.

That trip was one of many visits he took to the Classic City. Smith was in town for G-Day in April. He visited in March and was in town for the national championship celebration.

The guy loves Athens, and those are the players Georgia wants on this team.

Searels needs a guy like this on the line. Smith is coachable, has a gritty tenacious attitude to him and he fits into the culture that Georgia football has in place.

One of the best things about Smith is his versatility and ability to play guard or as a tackle. The Dawgs need those kinds of offensive linemen because it allows them to rotate and keep players fresh.

Hot. Bottom line, Georgia football does NIL deals the right way. light

With Smith, Georgia football moves up to No. 4 on the 247Sports team rankings and could move up even higher if the Dawgs pick up another recruit this week. This commitment is another momentum booster for Georgia, coming at the right time as the recruiting dead period ends at the end of the month. To keep someone like him in Georgia is a massive plus for the Dawgs.
