Georgia football will open its 2022 season in Atlanta as the Dawgs will take on the Ducks for the Chick-fil-A kickoff game.

With a little over a month before the Dawgs and the Ducks battle it out on the gridiron, tickets are officially sold out, proving that this is one of the best Week 1 games.

This season is the first time in my life Georgia is the reigning national champions, so the buzz surrounding this team is unreal. There is something about counting down the days knowing you get the whole season to be national champs that just hit differently.

I am so excited for the Dawgs to start the season, and what better way to start this bragging rights year than against your former defensive coordinator.

There is no better way to give Dan Lanning a lesson in big-boy football than destroying him and his ducks in Week 1 of the season.

Georgia football fans should be elated for Week 1 of the season.

It will be so exciting to see the Dawgs take the field officially for the first time since beating Alabama 33-18 in the national championship game. Of course, it’s a new season, so while that national championship still holds a special place, it’s time to focus on winning another one or at least trying to be a part of the playoffs.

Week 1 is where the tone gets set for the season. Last year that game against Clemson really was the beginning of a fairy tale season, so a beat down of Oregon could solidify that the Dawgs haven’t gone anywhere.

There is so much talent on that roster, and while a lot of it is inexperienced — they’ll grow into elite players.

The Georgia-Oregon game sold out of its tickets because everyone wanted to go to Atlanta for it. Oregon is no slouch, and Lanning will have those boys ready, but first-year head coach versus a guy coming off his first title — there is no comparison.

Fans have been counting down the days since March, it seems, and as each day ticks down closer to the kickoff, the excitement grows. I think the buzz grows from other fans, too, because they want to know if Georgia will continue to bully them or if they’ll be another 2019 LSU squad.

News flash, doubters — Georgia football is the SEC East bully, and that isn’t changing any time soon. Week 1 will be a test for this inexperienced Georgia team. Still, the way head coach Kirby Smart runs his program, and those guys will be mentally and emotionally prepared — the physical will come as the game continues.

Georgia fans, it won’t be long until the Dawgs start a new campaign, and who knows, it could be right where they left off in January. A legacy is brewing, so enjoy the ride because it’s about to be a fun one.
