The No.1 Georgia football team took on Kent State in a game that shocked many Bulldog and college football fans alike. The Dawgs struggled most of the game but held the lead and got the 39-22 win over the Golden Flashes, becoming 4-0 on the season.

Georgia came into the game as a -45.0 favorite but struggled on both ends of the ball. Despite the poor play, the Dawgs were still able to put on a strong enough performance to win at home.

Here are the grades from today’s game for the Georgia Bulldogs against Kent State.

Georgia Football offense grade: B+

The offense started off this game with a 75-yard touchdown by Brock Bowers in the opening minutes of the game. However, that run would be one of the only bright moments of the game. The Dawgs struggled to make most of its catches for the rest of the game, settling for field goals a lot of the time.

Starting quarterback Stetson Bennett threw an interception early in this game but would find the mark later on, as he would go 27-of-36 for 272 yards and scored a rushing touchdown. Bowers led the rush attack with his two touchdowns.

Overall, the Dawgs’ offense struggled to hold onto the ball and reel in catches. They do have some work to do before their next game, and I think head coach Kirby Smart would agree.

Georgia Football defense grade: B+

The Georgia defense started off with a big blocked punt for a safety by linebacker Jalon Walker but then allowed Kent State to make plays and stay in the game.

Georgia gave up 281 yards of total offense to Kent State, including a big play for a 56-yard touchdown pass. The Golden Flashes were able to score two touchdowns and three field goals. They were able to move the ball downfield most of the game, which caused Georgia to make too many mistakes.

The Dawgs’ defense needs to work on slowing down the opponent’s tempo and stop the big passing plays.

Overall Grade for Georgia Football: B+

Even though it wasn’t the prettiest win for Georgia, they still got a big victory. The Dawgs never gave up control in the game, and they still had huge moments in this game.
