Georgia football has seen its offense go from explosive and powerful during the first three weeks to stalling and looking sluggish in Weeks 4 and 5. Are the Dawgs playing vanilla to avoid giving opponents film material, or is there an issue on this side of the ball?

Time will present the answer, but Georgia has too many weapons on offense to stutter this much. It’s time to switch up some things against Auburn this week. Even though the offense continues to put up great stats, it still feels like something is wrong.

Georgia averages 39 points, 178.6 rushing, 342.80 passing and 521.4 total offensive yards a game. The Dawgs convert 52.63% of its third downs and are 4-of-4 on fourth downs.

There is a lot of good on the offense, but it’s time to kick it up a notch. Georgia has so many playmakers and guys who can help be explosive, so let’s do that against Auburn.

The Tigers are No. 8 in the SEC in scoring defense, giving up 21.6 points a game. Auburn is No. 9 in the conference in rushing defense, giving up 138.2 yards, No. 7 in passing defense, giving up 193.6 yards through the air, and No. 6 in total defense, giving up 331.8 yards.

On third down, Auburn ranks No. 10 in the SEC as opponents convert 37.31%.

Georgia should be able to manhandle the Tigers, but the last two weeks make this game feel a touch more uncomfortable than it should. Auburn hasn’t won in Athens since 2005, so the Dawgs play well against this SEC West foe at home, but it’s time to see the offense look elite again.

Here are the two things we’d like to see Georgia do against Auburn on offense.

Georgia football needs to up the tempo and lay on the gas

In the last few weeks, Georgia has tried to go slow and sustain long drives. Nothing is wrong with that, but in the previous two weeks, we’ve all seen that it doesn’t work. However, when the Dawgs go up-tempo, opposing defenses cannot keep up or hold Georgia. Why not go up-tempo and set the tone early like the Dawgs did against Oregon?

Offensive coordinator, Todd Monken’s play calls have looked downright flat the last few weeks until he got the offense to go faster. He needs to get creative and let this talented offense work its magic. It’s time to put the foot on the gas pedal and not let off until the final whistle blows.

Georgia football needs to feed the dynamic trio of Kenny McIntosh, Darnell Washington and Brock Bowers.

There are plenty of offensive weapons on Georgia’s offense, but these two have been the most impactful, especially last week against Missouri. Seeing Darnell Washington step off someone’s head after hurdling him and then making another defender bounce off him told me he needs more touches.

Kenny McIntosh has proven himself, so give him more touches. I don’t care if it’s receiving or running snaps — just give him the ball. Brock Bowers is the third name of this dynamic trio, and we all know how much of a playmaker he is. When he makes plays, it turns around the whole offense, and the entire mood changes.

These three guys have helped Georgia find success, and against Auburn, they will need to do the same. There are others who need to step up as well, but I want to see Georgia feed these three and grow their confidence even more.

Georgia should beat Auburn this week, but it’ll take seeing this offense retake control. What Georgia put on the field the last two weeks will not fly against Auburn, so the Dawgs better come out ready to punch the Tigers in the mouth and demoralize them.
