Georgia football takes on Florida this week at 3:30 p.m. on CBS Sports and the SEC announced on Monday that the Tenessee game will be at the same time. The game against the Vols in Athens will likely end up being a Top 3 matchup, and it’s at 3:30 p.m.

That timeslot is a slap in the face for the Dawgs, as this matchup is likely the last option for a night home game in 2022. The Georgia Tech game could be one, but it isn’t very certain.

We all knew this announcement was coming, but after it’s official, it feels like Georgia got slighted. It is preventing the world from seeing one of the best college football atmospheres because, in our opinion, CBS Sports is selfish.

Georgia football gets a slap to the face for the last good home game of the year.

No, there really isn’t anything we can do about the kickoff time, but whoever decided a Top 3 matchup should play at 3:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. needs to evaluate themselves. CBS Sports should have taken the Alabama-LSU game and let ESPN put the Dawgs and Vols in the 7 p.m. slot.

And don’t give me the whole, the game will be at night by the fourth quarter anyway, so does it really matter? Yeah, it does because that Sanford Stadium atmosphere at night is easily one of the top 10 in the country. It will still be one of the best at 3:30 p.m., but that isn’t the point.

Why hasn’t Georgia played a night home game all year? Shouldn’t that be a regulation like having to play one game on SEC Network+? It should be because night games are so special and electric. Georgia, instead, will play its fifth game at 3:30 p.m. this season. The Dawgs deserve better, and so do their fans.

Thank goodness CBS Sports and the SEC are parting ways soon, so things like this don’t continue to happen.

Lighting up Sanford Stadium is one of the coolest fourth-quarter traditions, and it won’t truly happen at night because this television network wants to be greedy about this game. I’m sure Tennessee fans will be glad this game is at 3:30 p.m. instead of at night because they know it can get ugly when they play at night in Athens.

Our rant is over about this kickoff time, but it’s still a slap to the face for a team that ranks No.1 in the country. Georgia is the defending national champions and cannot even get a night home game. Should we at least be happy that Game Day will be there? No. We’d rather have a night game between the hedges against a Top 3 team. Is that honestly too much to ask?
