Georgia football beat Mississippi State 45-19 to stay perfect on the season and earn another SEC East title. With the Dawgs handling their business, it made voting for the AP Top 25 Poll easy to decide. Most of the top 5 made it easy for the voters to rank the teams.

The Dawgs earned 62 of the 63 first-place votes, with Ohio State earning the other. For the second-straight week, the poll voters are convinced that Georgia is the true No.1 overall team.

TCU won a big victory over Texas to stay undefeated, and the Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines both won easily. Tennessee took Missouri to the woodshed as the Vols bounced back from getting demoralized by Georgia.

Those five teams make up the top five, as they did last week, but the rankings get interesting after that. Most of the rankings are right, but a few teams didn’t get enough appreciation.

Georgia football made the AP Poll voters’ lives easy after its 10th win.

While Georgia did its job, there were other teams that fell to their opponents. Oregon lost to Washington. Ole Miss fell to Alabama. Arizona beat UCLA and UCF took out Tulane. It was a somewhat safe week for most of the Top 25, but it still caused some shifting.

LSU beat Arkansas, Clemson bounced back, and UNC held out against Wake Forest.

Here is the entire Top 25 for Week 12:

  1. Georgia (10-0)
  2. Ohio State (10-0)
  3. Michigan (10-0)
  4. TCU (10-0)
  5. Tennessee (9-1)
  6. LSU (8-2)
  7. USC (9-1)
  8. Alabama (8-2)
  9. Clemson (9-1)
  10. Utah (8-2)
  11. Penn State (8-3)
  12. Oregon (8-2)
  13. North Carolina (9-1)
  14. Ole Miss (8-2)
  15. Washington (8-2)
  16. UCLA (8-2)
  17. UCF (8-2)
  18. Notre Dame (7-3)
  19. Kansas State (7-3)
  20. Florida State (7-3)
  21. Tulane (8-2)
  22. Cincinnati (8-2)
  23. Coastal Carolina (9-1)
  24. Oklahoma State (7-3)
  25. Oregon State (7-3)

For the first time in a while, the top 25 looks like it should. However, I think Clemson and USC should rank above Alabama and LSU.

Must Read. Georgia football: 3 takeaways from the Dawgs’ 10th dominating victory. light

While the Tigers did lose to a three-loss Notre Dame team, Alabama and the Bayou Bengals both have two losses. Other than that, the voters got it right. Georgia football is flat-out the best team in the country, and unless a disaster happens, it should stay that way.
