Georgia football was on its toes as the LSU Tigers drove down the field. However, that defense stuffed them in the red zone to force a field goal. Georgia blocked that field goal, and LSU fell asleep — the Dawgs didn’t, though veteran Bulldog Christopher Smith took it 95 yards to the house.

Throughout the morning, people questioned Georgia’s special teams because of past mistakes, so it’s only fitting that the Dawgs scored first on special teams. The Tigers have been keeping Georgia on its toes defensively, so that score was huge for the Dawgs. LSU scored directly after the big blocked kick, but those kinds of things are expected in big games like the SEC Championship Game.

Smith’s instincts are crucial for the Dawgs’ defense — this score proves that. It was so good to see the Dawgs block a kick, and Smith knew it wasn’t a dead play. When he picked it up, LSU thought the play was over, and it was over before he even got to the 50-yard line.

Watch Georgia football block an LSU field goal and take it to the house.

Smith hesitated for a second, but once he realized it was a live ball, he did what any playmaker would, and he took it 95 yards to score. Those scores are enormous in games like this one, and while the Tigers responded well, it doesn’t matter. Georgia will take that big play and run with it.

light. Must Read. Georgia football simply has the heart to win the SECCG

That special teams score will give the offense a boost of confidence to get things going on that side of the ball. The Dawgs need to kick it up a notch, and hopefully, that score will be the first of many from Georgia. When the offense got the ball, they drove it down the field and responded with a touchdown of their own from tight end sensation Brock Bowers — lookout, LSU, Georgia is feeling it now.
