Georgia Football quarterback Stetson Bennett has had one incredible season so far. Besides everything he’s achieved on the gridiron for the Georgia Bulldogs, he’s truly developed into a leader that will only continue growing over time. Recently, Bennett defied all odds and became a Heisman Trophy finalist.

Bennett joined a pretty incredible list of Heisman Trophy finalists that are all also quarterbacks. He’s going up against C.J. Stroud (Ohio State), Caleb Williams (South California), and Max Duggan (TCU), so hopefully, he’ll earn it and become the first quarterback in Georgia history to win a Heisman Trophy.

The college football will know who this year’s Heisman Trophy winner is on Saturday, December 10, 2022. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not hard at all to make the case as to why Bennett should easily win this year’s Heisman Trophy.

Stetson Bennett deserves the Heisman Trophy Award and more

One clear indicator as to why Bennett deserves the Heisman Trophy Award is just his pure stats. Let’s face it, the truth of the matter is stats never lie and tells a part of the story. With Georgia this season, Bennett has put up some solid numbers that tell a great story so far.

In 2022, Bennett totaled 269 completions out of 396 attempts for a 67.9 completion percentage, 3,425 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. He also has shown his dual-threat abilities as in that regard, he’s totaled 184 rushing yards on 47 attempts and scored seven rushing touchdowns which is a career-high.

His Georgia teammates love him and his surreal determination to get the job done on a consistent basis when it matters most. Yes, Georgia is undefeated and Bennett has had a big hand in that by doing his part while making sure his teammates also shine. He has already won the Burlsworth Trophy Award since he’s had an outstanding collegiate career so far as a walk-on. Yes ladies and gentlemen, a walk-on.

Bennett is as inspirational as they come and should hopefully have all that translate well when he eventually heads to the NFL. When it comes to all the Heisman Trophy votes that should come his way, Bennett has emerged as one of the leaders of a Georgia Football team that is undefeated and a top seed for the college football playoffs. He’s won a conference championship and continues to prove the naysayers wrong each and every time.

Overall, Bennett has Heisman Trophy winner written all over him and if any other quarterback from this year’s finalist group wins, it’ll be a travesty. Stats only tell a part of the story but when it comes to Bennet, he’s the complete package and then some. At the end of the day, Bennett has all the makings and talent of a true franchise quarterback that knows what it takes to win, be a mature leader in the locker room, and most importantly of all, continue doing what he does best.
