Georgia football tight end Brock Bowers already made history this week by winning the program’s first John Mackey Award. However, that isn’t the only kind of history he will be making. Through two seasons, Bowers has been one of the most dominant weapons in Georgia’s history.
The Dawgs have at least one more season with Bowers, but what he could do in that timeframe is downright scary because he only gets better. It doesn’t matter if the stats don’t match his freshmen ones, Bowers is a boss, and as long as he stays healthy, it will be a record-breaking career.
Bowers was still the best tight end in the country last year and was again this year. This Mackey Award finally gives him recognition for what he has done on the field. He should have won it as a freshman, but whatever, it took another season to win it.
Georgia football tight end Brock Bowers is a cheat code that’ll be around for at least one more year.
Bowers currently has 52 catches for 726 yards and six touchdowns this year. He also has six rushes for 93 yards and three scores. Not to mention, his blocking has improved so much from his freshman year. Bowers could have likely been a Heisman Trophy finalist if the world was ready for that.
Bowers is always the most trustworthy option for starting quarterback Stetson Bennett. He has had so many Heisman-worthy moments this season and helped keep Georgia alive in games. That catch against Florida could have won him whatever award because it was that wild. He probably could have won the best receiver award if he was able to be in contention for it.
In almost two full seasons with the Dawgs, Bowers has 108 catches, 1,608 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also has 10 carries for 149 yards and four scores. What Bowers can do is unmatched, and while he still has a lot of his career in front of him, thinking about what he does next is hard not to do.
His potential is there, and Bowers could end up rewriting tight-end history by the time he leaves Georgia. This Mackey Award is just the start of the history Bowers will make as a Georgia Bulldog. History is in the making because the history he has made isn’t done yet, and Bowers could go down as one of the best to ever play the game.
