Georgia football has its coaching staff on the road recruiting their tails off and finalizing the 2023 class ahead of Early Signing Day. Head coach Kirby Smart has been making in-home visits like a madman, showing the world why Georgia continues to stay as successful as it has been.
Smart and the rest of the staff have been on the road since the end of the SEC Championship. They are on a mission to get one of the best recruiting and transfer portal classes this year. While the transfer portal just opened up, it is a similar mad dash to closing out the recruiting classes each year. This article will focus on the 2023 recruiting class and give a brief update on it as Early Signing Day quickly approaches.
The Dawgs should have another top-three recruiting class and possibly could take away the top spot from Alabama if some flips and other movement happens. A No.2 overall class is more than good enough for the Dawgs, as Smart usually finishes in the top three.
Georgia football is on a recruiting hot streak for the 2023 class.
Currently, the Dawgs have 23 guys in the 2023 recruiting class, and on 247Sports team rankings, they are No.2 overall. Among those 23 guys, there are two 5-stars, 18 4-stars and three 3-stars. Seventeen of those guys are likely to enroll early, which would boost Georgia as they can get them in practice after inking on Dec. 21. Having some of those guys in the spring for practice will build those bonds even quicker.
The Dawgs have another stacked class full of talented players ready to continue showing that Georgia has the best culture in college football. Georgia will take around 30 kids in this group. That number could fluctuate depending on how it goes in the transfer portal. The Dawgs are looking to close strong, and this weekend will feature more official visits.
Smart knows what he is doing and trusts that his coaching staff can make things happen. Georgia is looking to add another running back to the mix, a couple of receivers, possibly a third tight end, another offensive lineman, a couple of defensive linemen, another linebacker and maybe another defensive back.
This group features four linebacker commits, four defensive backs, one defensive lineman, four offensive linemen, two tight ends, three receivers and one running back. The Dawgs do not have a quarterback commitment for this 2023 class, and it’s up in the air if Georgia will take one. There could even be a flip or two from other programs.
Georgia football has its staff working its magic ahead of Early Signing Day as the Dawgs look to close strong. The amount of discussion surrounding them now suggests the Dawgs will close strong.
