Georgia football is fully emersed in the Peach Bowl activities as both teams are battling it out for bragging rights in the Battle for Bowl Week competition. The Dawgs and the Buckeyes are vying for the coveted Battle for Bowl Week Belt and prepping for each other. These events are not necessarily distractions for the teams but obligations that can be used for good.

Both teams arrived in Atlanta on Monday, and since then, the last couple of days have been jam-packed full of media time, practice and Battle for Bowl Week competitions. They are also visiting a few places in Atlanta to give back to the community. The bowl game festivities are always fun to see from the outside looking in because it shows how much goes into preparing for these massive week-long events.

With the Peach Bowl being one of the New Year’s Six games, stuff is always going on. Now with them being a semifinal game, it adds to it. These festivities are the main talking point of our daily news brief. We’ve also included events that aren’t just for the teams — Dawg and Buckeye fans have a few things they can enjoy too.

The Georgia Bulldogs are tied with Ohio State after two days of Battle for Bowl events.

At the time of this article’s publishing, both squads have one win. We’re waiting to see the basketball event results, but the Dawgs won the family feud event while the Buckeyes took home the “Drop it Likes It’s Hot” game. There are two more events today as the teams will battle it out in bowling and at Andretti Indoor Karting.

This week-long event has been held at the last eleven Peach Bowls. Among those eleven games, seven of the Battle for Bowl Week winners went on to win the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

These events allow the players to enjoy themselves and stay competitive. Some may think these are distractions, and someone like head coach Kirby Smart probably hates these things, but at the same time, it comes with the territory. It’s all about how you handle these circumstances; if a team is worried about these events, they aren’t ready for the game itself.

The Georgia Bulldogs visited the Children’s Hospital and Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Competitive events aren’t the only things these two teams are participating in. Monday featured tours for both teams of the College Football Hall of Fame, and on Tuesday, Georgia and Ohio State visited two children’s hospitals and went to the Ebenezer Baptist Church at The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site.

The Dawgs visited the Children’s Scottish Rite Hospital, while the Buckeyes went to Egleston Children’s Hospital. Both teams visited with the patients as they colored photos, decorated football helmets, and spent time with some of their fans. It was a heartwarming trip to watch the Dawgs and Buckeyes take the time and make these kids’ days.

After the visits to the two children’s hospitals, the Dawgs and Buckeyes came together for a joint visit at the church. Civil Rights ambassador Andrew Young and football legend Bill Curry spoke to both teams as they got an insight into the history of this church, the civil rights in Atlanta, and other topics. Players got to ask questions and learn incredible knowledge from these speakers.

Georgia Bulldogs fans can enjoy Peach Bowl activities themselves.

Dawg and Buckeye fans can get into the festivities with a few events in Atlanta. The Georgia Aquarium hosts a fan night on Friday from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. with beverages. Fans can check out the Georgia Aquarium’s newest attraction and enjoy a pep rally featuring both teams’ cheerleaders and mascots. Those who go can check out most of the galleries at the aquarium and take in the beauty of all the sea creatures.

On Saturday, the Peach Bowl Fan Fest is at the Georgia World Congress Center Hall. This 200,000 sq. feet event will be full of interactive attractions, pep rallies, and more. It’s where all the fans will go and something no one should miss. Also, on Saturday will be the Peach Bowl parade from 1:00-2:30 p.m. ET in Downtown Atlanta.

There will be floats, classic cars and more that fans can watch ahead of the game. It’s just another thing that the Peach Bowl is doing for the fans as they flock to Atlanta for the game.
