At the stroke of midnight to bring in 2023, Georgia football saw Ohio State miss a 50-yard field goal to send the Dawgs to their second straight national championship as the Dawgs beat the Buckeyes 42-41. What a dogfight of a game for the Dawgs to come back and win.

Down by 14 at the start of the fourth quarter, there was a chance, but the way Georgia’s defense played all game, not many gave the Dawgs a shot in the dark to find a way and win. However, the heart that this Georgia team has was enough, and by a miracle, the Buckeyes shanked the kick. A little luck had to happen for the Dawgs to win, but they did enough to make it happen.

The Dawgs never gave up despite things going wrong throughout the entire game, and they found a way to hold Ohio State’s offense off just enough. It was ugly at times from the defense, but a win is a win, and the hopes of going back-to-back are still very much alive.

Georgia football got the best miracle to start out in 2023 with a win over the Buckeyes.

Ohio State wanted this game badly, and the Buckeyes played more physically than Georgia did for most of the game.

However, A lot of credit should go to Ohio State because they played Georgia better than anyone else this season, and this game is why fans want these two teams to play more often. CJ Stroud deserves so much credit because that young man left it all on the field. He played with so much heart and did everything he could, but Georgia found a way to stop him just enough times to win.

No one can count out starting quarterback Stetson Bennett because, once again, he delivered when no one expected him to. What he did on that final drive was out of this world and so clutch.  He found a way, and the story continues for him. After a two-yard run to start that drive, Bennett completed a 15-yard pass to Brock Bowers, followed by a 35-yard pass to Kearis Jackson, a 5-yard pass to Kenny McIntosh, and the touchdown throw went to AD Mitchell for 10 yards to give Georgia a 42-41 lead.

Luck came into play for Ohio State to miss that field goal, but sometimes that has to happen for a team to win, and Georgia will gladly take it.

Georgia’s fight is still alive — they will have an absolute battle in LA against TCU. The Dawgs overcame and fought until the last seconds of the game, and that is all Georgia can ask out of its players. What a finish to one of the best playoff games, and what a way for Georgia to keep this historic run alive.
