Georgia football is doing something that very few teams understand or have accomplished. The Dawgs are heading back to the national championship for the second straight year, and it almost feels like a dream. Fans watched the games this year and saw this program win week after week, but stuff like this doesn’t happen for Georgia fans — at least, it didn’t.

Since head coach Kirby Smart took the job in Athens, this journey has been incredible. That first season raised many questions, but that second season made many Georgia fans realize there was something about Smart. The laid-back era of Georgia football was over, and the Dawgs were evolving. Well, it’s real, and this era of football continues to get better every day.

Years three, four and five of Smart’s tenure were exciting too. Since that first year, there haven’t been many issues. We won’t discuss the few games he lost because we’re looking at the big picture. Right now is the golden era of Georgia football, and it seems like there is no end in sight. With that happening in Athens, we, as Georgia fans, must remember to stay humble and enjoy this process.

Being a Georgia football fan is one of the greatest things to be right now.

Other fan bases will talk junk about Georgia, no matter how good they get, because of jealousy. What the Dawgs have done is impressive, and many teams have tried to do it as well, just to fall short of that goal.

As fans of the hot commodity, we must not let things bother us. Rumors will circle and be annoying to hear, but holding tough is the way to do it. Georgia is better than every SEC East team right now and better than most of the SEC West — who cares if they talk trash about the Dawgs?

Reflecting on what it means to be a Georgia fan right now means getting more trash talk than when the Dawgs went 10-2 every year. Georgia fans have it made right now, but it won’t last forever, so enjoy it right now and let the noise talk. Who cares? Georgia is doing it the right way, and no matter what causal fans or even the media experts say, Dawg fans know what kind of team this is and how good it is. Talk is good because it means Georgia is doing something right.
