Georgia Bulldogs news: Amazing injury news and a recruiting flip
The Georgia Bulldogs are heading to Los Angeles for the national championship against the TCU Horned Frogs after escaping OSU in the semifinals. Two teams are left standing, and there is just one final game this season.
This news brief features three topics from the past few days relevant to the national championship, recruiting, and a thing that happened in the semifinal. Georgia had a few injuries against the Buckeyes, which could set them back in the title game. Despite a successful recruiting class, one of the guys that planned on signing in February made a change.
Georgia has what it takes to win another national championship on Monday, and some of this news could bode well for them. When this program believes it can win, no one can stop them. We all saw that on Saturday night against the Buckeyes, and even with some luck, it showed.
Let’s check out today’s three news brief topics.
The Georgia Bulldogs may have Darnell Washington for the title game.
Georgia had too many injuries in the Ohio State game, but hopefully, these players can come back for the title matchup against TCU. It was one of the most physical games this season, and the injuries seemed to mount up all night long.
There hasn’t been any word yet, but reports suggest that Darnell Washington could be available for the big game. He went out early against the Buckeyes, which appears to be an ankle issue. It doesn’t seem like he will have to have surgery, so depending on the severity, Washington could play against TCU.
If Washington can play, it would help the Dawgs tremendously because he is a difference-maker.
The Georgia Bulldogs saw a receiver flip to the Texas A&M Aggies.
On Monday, long-time receiver commit for the 2023 class Raymond Cottrell announced he would flip to Texas A&M. While it stings, this news doesn’t seem that surprising because of the multiple transfer portal additions to the receiver room.
Cottrell is a great receiver, but the Dawgs have added some experience, so it makes sense why he decided to make the flip. The Dawgs can’t land all the receivers, and if he feels like this is the right choice, then good luck to him.
This decision opens up one more scholarship to use during the February signing period, so it could be a blessing in disguise. Georgia knows what it wants in its program, and while Cottrell matched that standard, it didn’t work out for him in Athens. The Dawgs will close this class strongly.
