The Georgia Bulldogs are set to take on the TCU Horned Frogs in the National Championship Game. Head coach Kirby Smart provided an injury update at a press conference.

All eyes of the college football world are on Los Angeles today, where the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 3 TCU Horned Frogs square off at SoFi Stadium to determine the national championship.

The Dawgs have been dealing with some key injuries in recent weeks, and fans have been hoping to see the return of some key players and to see a few others playing at closer to 100 percent.

Head coach Kirby Smart and offensive coordinator Todd Monken spoke to the press at Media Day and provided a few hopeful updates.

Darnell Washington, TE (Ankle) Questionable – “We are hopeful we can get Darnell ready to play. He’s rehabbed really hard, and I know he wants to play. This is the first time he’s been back on the west coast and able to play. So I know it’s an important one to him.”

Washington went down in the first quarter of the semifinal game against Ohio State and his presence on the field was definitely missed.

Ladd McConkey, WR (Knee) Probable/Limited – McConkey has been dealing with a left knee injury during the late weeks of the season. He did play against Ohio State but certainly didn’t look to be at full strength.

Warren McClendon, OT (Knee) Probable – Warren McClendon suffered a knee sprain against LSU in the SEC Championship game and didn’t play against Ohio State. Kirby Smart told reporters, “He’s been working. He’s felt a lot better this week in terms of what he’s been able to do compared to previous weeks.”

Chaz Chambliss, OLB (Knee) Probable/Limited – Chambliss injured his knee against Ohio State and had to have it put in a brace. Kirby Smart told reporters that hopefully, he’ll play. “We haven’t done much since then, since we’ve been at home. I’m hopeful those guys [Chambliss and Washginton] are able to play and help us. Those guys want to play. I promise you that.”

Tate Ratledge, OL (In) – Despite some shoulder discomfort, Rateledge is fully available vs TCU

Xavier Truss, OL (In) – Truss has been dealing with a toe injury for the last few weeks but will be in the game against TCU

Considering the long season Georgia has had to endure, this isn’t the most concerning injury report to be shared.

Kickoff for the National Championship Game is at 7:30 ET at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Ca. Watch and stream on the family on ESPN Networks.
