Georgia football: Betting odds for starting quarterback in 2023
Georgia football will need a new starting quarterback in 2023, so who has the best chance of becoming the Dawgs’ next QB1?
When you have a position room full of four and five-star talent, trying to find the right starter can be more challenging than even getting them to commit to your school. It’s not a time to stroke egos or be concerned with hurting feelings, you have to pick the right guy for the job.
This becomes even more important and visible when it’s the starting quarterback, and with Stetson Bennett having cemented his legacy as he leaves Athens, Kirby Smart now has the unenviable task of looking at the roster for his replacement.
Fortunately for Kirby Smart, he has a lot of talent (maybe too much) to choose from. And while it’s up to each individual player to bring his best game to spring and fall camps, the oddsmakers have already begun prognosticating who will win the job.
According to bookies.com, rising redshirt junior Carson Beck is leading the charge with a 64.3 percent implied probability of winning the starting job, followed by Brock Vandagriff, Gunner Stockton, and the rest of the field.
It’s possible these odds could shift, given Kirby Smart’s latest statement that he’s definitely looking at mobility in a quarterback as being more important after seeing what Stetson Bennett has been able to do.
That could possibly move Gunner Stockton up the list in a hurry.
Regardless of who gets the job, clearly, Georgia won’t be losing much at the quarterback position, with every player waiting in the wings behind Bennett possessing massive talent and a unique skill set.
