Georgia football 2023 NFL Draft class: LT Broderick Jones: potential landing spots with Seahawks, Packers, or Jets

Even though it is early in the process there is an increasing level of commentary that Broderick Jones could be the first offensive tackle taken in the 2023 NFL Draft.

We know from previous drafts that quality OTs can command a high price as teams look to protect their quarterbacks from pressure and physicality, buying precious time to allow their gunslingers to connect with targets.

Jones going early will follow earlier draft trends with tackles flying off the board in the first round. Jones has been an integral cog in the Georgia offense this year, earning ALL SEC Honors during this championship-winning season. The burning question is where could Jones land?

Seattle at No. 5 is a possibility as Seahawks coach Pete Carroll looks to improve the protection for Geno Smith. The question would be if Seattle is willing to pay such a high price for Jones, although we have seen this price paid in other recent drafts.

Green Bay at No. 15 could also be a landing spot with the Packers in desperate need of protecting their quarterback- whether that be Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love. In addition, the David Baktihari situation is worth watching with his salary severely impinging on the Packers’ cap space in 2023 – especially after an injury-ravaged season.

While the Jets might be tempted to find the answer to their ongoing quarterback problems with the 13th pick, truth is that Mekhi Becton has struggled in this Jets offense and if the front office thinks Jones is a better value pick at this stage, then Jones will end up at the Meadowlands.
