Georgia football 2023 NFL Draft class: Safety Christopher Smith could land in Buffalo or New England

Whisper it but Safety Christopher Smith might not just be the best Safety in the 2023 NFL draft class but he might turn out to be the best Georgia prospect in this class.

Coming through the ranks in Athens alongside Lewis Cine and Derion Kendrick, Smith matured into a very, very impressive player on the defensive side of the ball. Top of the list of attributes that NFL scouts are talking about Smith is his football intelligence and quick decision-making, which has NFL scouts excited.

The 2023 safety class is wide open this year in terms of talent so it is entirely possible that Smith is the first safety off the block which would be fully deserved given the career he has had with the Bulldogs.

The Buffalo Bills have some contract negotiating to do on the defensive side of the ball making change likely during the offseason. Getting a player of Smith’s caliber would allow for some movement in the salary cap while bringing a very talented player into the secondary.

New England has had another poor year and needs assistance frankly all over the team. But Smith is a player that Bill Belichick will like. Smart, disciplined, fast, and aggressive. Smith has Patriot written all over him. New England is a very attractive spot for Smith.
