Looking back at the past week in Georgia women’s basketball and what big game lies ahead for the Lady Bulldogs in the coming week.

The Georgia women’s basketball team had a tough month of January in SEC play. After starting the season with seven straight wins, they’ve become one of the streakiest teams in the nation.

Last week, the Lady Bulldogs opened with a 75-73 road loss to Texas A&M on Sunday, and then rebounded with a 62-51 win over the Missouri Tigers at Stegeman Coliseum on Thursday.

That brings the Georgia women’s basketball team to a 14-8 overall record, and 3-5 in SEC play.

Grading the Georgia women’s basketball team: Week of 1/22-1/28

The Lady Bulldogs really should have gone 2-0 on the week considering who they were playing. Going on the road in the SEC is never easy, but Georgia did not play their best defense against a struggling Texas A&M team.

On the flip side, the defense really stepped up against a quality Missouri team, holding the Tigers to a 32.8 shooting percentage. That was a must-win game for the Bulldogs.

Georgia women’s basketball upcoming major game

The Lady Bulldogs have two games scheduled this week. Opening on Sunday with a home game against Mississippi State, and then the big matchup of the week on the road against the No. 4 LSU Tigers

LSU is currently undefeated and sits atop the SEC standings along with undefeated No. 1 South Carolina.

This will be a huge test for the Lady Bulldogs, as the Tigers have one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, averaging 88.2 points per game, good for tops in the nation in that stat. Currently, Georgia is only allowing 58.5 points per game to opponents.

Strength against strength will be the theme of this game, and Georgia will be facing a very hostile crowd on the road.
