Ball State Cardinals vs Georgia Bulldogs

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Bulldogs and Cardinals. While adding a team from the MAC isn’t necessarily a bad thing in terms of strength of schedule, Ball State had a rather disappointing 2022 season, finishing the year 5-7, and isn’t looked at as one of the favorites in 2023.

The Cardinals finished 70th in scoring defense last season, giving up 26.9 points per game, and ended the year ranked 99th in scoring offense, only putting up 23.3 points per game.

That differential is probably a big reason why Ball State took seven losses on the chin, including an opening week 59-10 orange crush against Tennessee. This year the Cardinals are gluttons for punishment, opening the season against Kentucky and then Georgia.

Ball State finished the season with three consecutive losses, so expect that streak to continue in Lexington and then between the hedges in the second week of the 2023 season. Still, always keep MACtion in mind. Those teams love to pull the big upsets.
