South Carolina Gamecocks vs Georgia Bulldogs

Series record: Georgia leads, 54-19-2
Last meeting: 48-7 Georgia, 2022

In a return to tradition, the Bulldogs will open their SEC schedule against South Carolina. But, is this the same Gamecock team the Dawgs have run roughshod over the last two seasons?

In the dark days of the early 2000s, this was a game South Carolina fans circled on their schedule and a game that filled Georgia football fans with a slight amount of dread.

It seemed every season was a closely contested game, and upsets on the visiting turf were almost a regularity.

However, the Dawgs have won three straight and seven of the last eight meetings between these teams. The last three years the average margin of victory by Georgia was 32.3 points.

But in 2022, the Gamecocks saw something of a rebirth in the second half of the season, with wins over ranked Kentucky, Tennessee, and Clemson teams. Head coach Shane Beamer has this fanbase fired up, and the Gamecocks may not be the pushover we’re used to seeing.

Still, the talent gap between Carolina and Georgia is still vast, and if Georgia plays with the same intensity they have in past meetings, this should still be a relatively easy win.
