Georgia football schedule: Early game-by-game predictions for 2023 season
Georgia Bulldogs vs Auburn Tigers
Series record: Georgia leads, 63-56-8
Last meeting: 42-10 Georgia, 2022
The fifth game of the 2023 season will be the first real big rivalry game for the Bulldogs. Georgia will travel to Jordan-Hare stadium to take on the
Plainsmen
,
War Eagles
…err…Tigers.
When Georgia and Auburn have met in the past, we’ve seen some crazy things happen with some memorable (and not so memorable for Dawg fans) endings. However, things are a mess down on the plains right now, and Georgia will be meeting yet another first-year coach in Hugh Freeze.
After leaving Ole Miss under a cloud of shame, Freeze turned the Liberty football program into something pretty special. Now he returns to the SEC to see if he can work his magic once again.
Regardless of what tricks Freeze has up his sleeve, he was left with a mess of a roster in Auburn and hasn’t done much to change that in his short time at the school so far. The Tigers had the No. 17 recruiting class in the nation for 2023 and didn’t gain a lot of help for their anemic offense.
Hugh Freeze may eventually turn things around at Auburn, but for this year, it’s going to be another Georgia blowout.
Chance of Upset: 10%
