Georgia football schedule: Early game-by-game predictions for 2023 season
Georgia Bulldogs vs Florida Gators
Series record: Georgia leads, 54-44-2
Last meeting: 42-20 Georgia, 2022
After a bye week for the Dawgs, it’s time for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party – the Georgia-Florida classic.
After a long run of Florida dominance in this series during the 90s and early 2000s, Georgia has now taken control of the series, winning five of the last six meetings.
Like Kentucky, Florida keeps getting propped up in the early part of recent seasons only to tumble when they hit the more difficult games of the season. And like Auburn, things aren’t exactly stable down in Gainesville with some roster churn and recruiting gaffes.
That said, Florida is a good team, and with Anthony Richardson off to pursue an NFL career, the starting quarterback is likely to be Graham Mertz unless Billy Napier pulls someone out of the transfer portal. To say this offense is once again rebuilding might be overstating it, but it’s not that far off either.
You never want to overlook the Gators, and you always want to take into consideration that this is a major rivalry, and records don’t always matter. Georgia needs to be careful and be ready for this game.
