Georgia football NFL Combine performance: Nolan Smith

By contrast, the Nolan Smith charm offensive rolls on. For those who have watched Nolan develop into a great leader and an even better young man, it was no surprise the way that Smith had the media eating out of his hand.

Smith is as sincere a young footballer as you will find in this draft or in any recent draft for that matter. He spoke eloquently, intelligently, and emotionally specifically when asked about how the passing of teammate Devin Willock had on him and his colleagues.

Clearly, Smith knew that his maturity and sincerity weren’t going to be enough. Sitting out the vast majority of last season put enough doubt on his fitness to push him out of being a first-round draft pick. Not only does Smith deserve to be a first-round pick but we all know the financial cost of missing out in round one. So Smith did have much to prove. And prove he did.

Nolan Smith posted very impressive NFL Combine numbers that compared well with other established NFL players. To recap, Smith jumped 41.5 in the vertical and 10’8 in the broad jump. Both of these results propel into the top percentiles of performance in this year’s draft.

However, his 40-yard dash time of 4.39 is what made the headlines. Noticeably this time is faster than the time that both DeAndre Hopkins and Stefon Diggs recorded at their combines.
