Georgia football players drafted by New England since 1993

1998 – RB Robert Edwards, Round 1
2001 – DE Richard Seymour, Round 1
2004 – TE Ben Watson, Round 1
2018 – RB Sony Michel, Round 1
2018 – OT Isaiah Wynn, Round 1
2016 – WR Malcolm Mitchell, Round 4
1995 – DB Carlos Yancy, Round 7
2000 – FB Patrick Pass, Round 7
2010 – DT Kade Watson, Round 7

Nine players, five in round one. New England has seen the most success with players they’ve drafted out of Georgia, with multiple players earning multiple Super Bowl rings, and two of them quite possibly ending up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Clearly, Atlanta has missed the boat on a lot of players, but in particular, some all-time greats who helped their teams to winning seasons, playoff victories, and the Super Bowl.

While there’s no direct line that can be drawn to drafting Georgia football players and winning Super Bowls, there is absolutely an indication that the most successful franchises of the last 30 years have scouted Georgia well.

Have there been misses? Absolutely, it happens in every draft. Teams swing and miss, and move on. But Atlanta doesn’t even get the bat off their shoulder when it comes to looking at Georgia’s best talent.

Will this latest batch of Bulldogs on the way to Philly and Pittsburgh (New England has yet to take a Dawg this year) be a success? Atlanta fans are probably dreading a playoff matchup with the Eagles where the Falcons’ offense is dismantled by the Georgia Eagles’ defense.
