Believe it or not, Georgia football has never played these FBS teams

Georgia football vs Sun Belt

The Sun Belt Conference is one of the up-and-coming Group of Five leagues, and many of the teams are neighboring Georgia and the rest of the SEC. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Georgia eventually play every team in this conference.

James Madison Dukes: From 1972 to 2021, JMU played in the lower divisions, but joined the Sun Belt in 2022 and nearly made it to the Conference Championship Game in their first season. They’ll be looking to schedule some top teams.

Georgia State Panthers: This is an odd one indeed. While GSU didn’t start playing football until 2010, it’s interesting that they’ve never taken the opportunity to play their neighboring school to the East. Chances are, this game will happen soon.

Old Dominion Monarchs: The Monarchs football program actually began in 1930 and then ended in 1940. They restarted football in 2009 and moved to FBS in 2012. Like most of the Sun Belt teams, it’s likely they’ll be on Georgia’s regular season schedule at some point.

South Alabama Jaguars: There’s a team in Alabama Georgia hasn’t played? This one will be fixed soon to be certain. The Jags have only been at the FBS level since 2013.

Texas State Bobcats: Playing FCS ball until 2013, Texas State (no, not the Armadillos from Necessary Roughness) has been off Georgia’s radar. Look for this game to become an early-season matchup soon.
