Georgia football vs Syracuse football

Overall record: 0-1
First meeting: Dec. 30, 1989
Last meeting: Dec. 30, 1989
Last score: 19-18, Syracuse

Georgia and Syracuse oddly have only met once, and never in a regular season setting. While Syracuse hasn’t had a ton of consistent success recently, they are a program on the rise.

The one time these two teams did meet was. in the 1989 Peach Bowl. It was Ray Goff’s first season as Georgia’s head coach, replacing the legendary Vince Dooley.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season 6-5, and after finishing the season with losses to Auburn and Georgia Tech they were on their way to the Peach Bowl for their first-ever matchup with the Syracuse Orange.

Syracuse came away with the 19-18 win, and the Ray Goff era was off to an inauspicious start.
